What is the “typical” career path for education abroad? Hear from three professionals in education abroad about their own professional journeys. The panelists, who have five to twenty years of experience, will share ideas on paths to the profession.

Seth Riker

Seth Riker is the Marketing and Communications Manager for the University of Kentucky (UK) College of Agriculture, Food and Environment and serves at the Communications Coordinator for NAFSA Region VI. In 2015, he recieved NAFSA's inaugural Rising Star Young Leader Award for his contributions to Region VI and his work as UK's first Education Abroad Promotion and Outreach Coordinator.

Giustina Pelosi

Giustina (M.S. College Student Services Administration) has worked in international education for more than 12 years and currently works for CEA Study Abroad. She decided on a career in international education after returning from a study abroad program in Salamanca, Spain. Giustina has held several positions within the field of international education including working as a Home-to-School Consultant for the Migrant Educational Program in Hillsboro, Oregon, as a high school teacher for the Academy of Global Exploration, as a WorldTeach English Instructor in Montanita, Ecuador, before she was able to break into the field of Education Abroad within a Higher Education setting. Since then, she has worked as a Regional Advisor for IE3 Global Internships, a Faculty-Led Advisor for Portland State University, and currently as the Regional Consultant for CEA Study Abroad. Giustina is passionate about providing a platform and network for professionals in the field co-founded a professional association in Portland, Oregon called PDX Abroad. The success of this model has been replicated in other associations such as BMore Abroad in the Baltimore area.
