A panel of one-person and small office professionals will share tips and organizational strategies that have helped them maintain their energy and edge to support and achieve institutional goals.

Dawn Wooten

Associate Director, International Student and Scholar Services
Washington, District of Columbia

Dawn Harris Wooten is the Associate Director of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) at NAFSA. In her role, she serves as the NAFSA Staff Partner for the Regulatory Practice (ISSRP) and the Knowledge Community (KCISSS). Prior to working at NAFSA, Dawn worked in the field of international education for more than ten years at both private and public institutions within three NAFSA regions (VI, VII, VIII). Dawn continues to serve as a mentor to new advisors entering the ISS field and graduate students interested in working in international education. She is a proud alum of the NAFSA Trainer Corp, the Academy and the Management Development Program.

Paige M. Ramsey-Hamacher

Paige Ramsey-Hamacher has been working in the field of international education for 20+ years and has experience in International Student Advising; Education Abroad Advising; Some International Scholar Advising and Admissions as well as Multicultural programming. She is the NAFSA National Co-chairperson for the One Person / Small Office (OPO) Member Interest Group.


Elena Anderson-de Lay

Director, Global Mobility and Visa Services
The Brookings Institution

Elena specializes in global workforce development and employment-based immigration. Her work addresses the areas of U.S. and global immigration compliance; international relocations; nonresident alien taxes; and policy development. A certified Global Mobility Specialist and a Global Professional in Human Resources, Elena designed the global mobility and visa services program at The Brookings Institution, a non-profit policy research organization, where she has served since 2004. Prior to Brookings, Elena has focused primarily on immigration work within the international education field. Currently, she serves as a mentor for the Diversity and Inclusion Program (DIP) and recently served on NAFSA's Knowledge Community for International Student and Scholar Services (KCISSS) as the International Scholar Advising (ISCA) Network Leader. Elena has presented at various national and regional NAFSA conferences as well as with the Council for Global Immigration and the Worldwide Employee Relocation Council. She has also served as a member of the Society of Human Resource Management’s Global Special Expertise Panel. Elena is passionate about her work and believes the best way to optimize talent is to mobilize it.


Heidi White

Director of International Student Services & Study Abroad
Durham Technical Community College

Heidi is truly pan-NAFSAn, as she has worked with ESL, international programming, international student and scholar advising, SEVIS compliance, study abroad and international admissions. She has worked at community colleges, intensive language schools, large public institutions and smaller private institutions in the US and abroad. Currently, she serves as Director of International Student Services and Study Abroad at Durham Technical Community College in Durham, North Carolina where she manages and leads study/travel programs for the students/community. Previously, she served as Director of Study Abroad at Elon University where she managed more than 30 faculty-led programs a year. Heidi has designed and taught several “Going Global” courses for returned study abroad students that are looking for international opportunities after graduation. Heidi has been active in International Education on the state, regional and national levels by holding leadership positions, presenting, publishing and leading trainings as a member of NAFSA’s Trainer Corps. She currently serves as Dean of the curriculum she co-developed, Collaborative Approaches to Developing Faculty-Led Programs. Heidi holds a Bachelor’s in Anthropology and a Master’s in International Studies.
