Erasmus+: Opportunities and Challenges

During this session, participants will learn how to engage with Erasmus+ programs to create joint projects and exchanges. There will be a special focus on opportunities for student and staff exchanges to and from Europe as well as a reflection on possible obstacles and solutions. This session is presented by the European Association for International Education (EAIE).

Laura Howard

Laura Howard is President of the European Association for International Education (EAIE). She currently holds an academic position lecturing on foreign language acquisition at the University of Cadiz (UCA), Spain. Her experience in international relations management includes Director of International Relations (SIO) and General Director of External Promotion in the UCA. She chaired the Commission for International Promotion created within the Spanish Rectors' Conference 2008-2010. She has published articles and papers and presented at international conferences extensively on many issues related to international higher education. Laura is one of the authors of the recently published report Internationalisation of Higher Education prepared for the European Parliament.

Gro Tjore

Deputy Director General
Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Education (SIU)

Gro Tjore serves as deputy director general at the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Education (SIU). She has worked with internationalization of education since 2006, both in program development and administration, and in various management functions.

Tjore has a background from international humanitarian work. She spent nine years at the UN World Food Programme, serving in different functions in Benin, Ethiopia, Italy and the US. She holds a degree in political science from the University of Bergen. She has also been an Erasmus student at the University of Nanterre in Paris.
