He has a BS in Natural Resources with Distinction in Research from Cornell University. His work has appeared in publications including The Chicago Tribune, Dwell, CityLab and Next American City.
University Landscape Architect, Duke University, DurhamMark H. Hough, FASLA, has been the University Landscape Architect at Duke University since 2000. He is involved in all aspects of planning, design, historic preservation and natural resource management on the Olmsted Brothers-designed campus. He has overseen the master planning and site design during the largest period of expansion in the university’s history. Hough is also a prolific writer, contributing works to numerous print and online publications focused on campuses, urban design, professional practice and cultural landscapes. In 2011, he was awarded the Bradford Williams Medal for excellence in writing about landscape.
