Assistant Professor, School of Nursing, University of Alabama, Cave Creek, ArizonaDr. Elizabeth Sharpe is an Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing where she is faculty in the Master of Science in Nursing Program. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Records Administration from Temple University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Northeastern University. Her experience includes over 20 years of practice in neonatal intensive care as a nurse practitioner, transport nurse and PICC team leader. She is the author of multiple publications including original research and professional references, and is an author for the National Association of Neonatal Nurses Guidelines for Practice, 3rd edition. She is a clinical educator and consultant and has presented regionally, nationally and internationally on neonatal and vascular access topics. She is the first Janet Pettit Scholar of the Association for Vascular Access. Dr. Sharpe is currently a Director on the Board of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN), and has served actively within the Association for Vascular Access (AVA) and its Pediatric Special Interest Group.
