AVA's 2014 Annual Scientific Meeting will be held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center just outside Washington, DC.

Housing Alert!

It has been brought to our attention that "Convention Expo Travel" and "Expo Housing" have been soliciting our exhibiting companies and members.

The only AVA-endorsed hotels for the 2014 Annual Scientific Meeting is the Gaylord National Hotel and the Hampton Inn and Suites and they will not contact you.

If you are contacted by another company trying to solicit hotel rooms, be advised it is not affiliated with AVA. Please contact Colleen Campbell, Meeting Manager, by email at ccampbell@conferencemanagers.com.

HOUSING INFORMATION

PLEASE NOTE The Gaylord National and area National Harbor hotels are sold out over the conference dates. The next closest area for housing is located in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, which is a short 5 minute cab ride away.

Old Town Alexandria offers plenty of hotel options, some of which include:

Looking for a Roommate?
Want to share the cost of a room at this year’s Annual Scientific Meeting? Just fill out our short Share a Room Form and your name will be added to a list of others that are also looking for a roommate. This list will then be distributed on 2 different dates (June 23rd & July 14th) to all those who have asked to be included.  It will be your responsibility to contact others on the list and secure your own hotel reservation. AVA does not assume any responsibility for your arrangements. 

Marriott Reward Points:  As of October 2012, Gaylord Hotel Properties are being managed by Marriott.  As a result, Marriott Rewards members can now earn and redeem points at all Gaylord Hotels’ premier resorts.

Reagan National Airport
Gaylord National offers daily roundtrip shuttle service from Reagan National Airport to the hotel (see costs below). The shuttle runs every 20 minutes and picks up outside of Ground transportation near baggage claim. Please go to the Super Shuttle registration desk and ask for the Gaylord National Airport Shuttle.

Daily Gaylord National Shuttle Schedule:
6 a.m. – 8 p.m. (departs every 20 minutes)

Washington Dulles International Airport
The Gaylord National does not have shuttle service from Washington Dulles International Airport.  Super Shuttle is available for transfers to and from the airport.  To book a Super Shuttle transfer, follow the airport signs to ground transportation and then you will find the Super Shuttle Desk near baggage claim.  Once you reach the desk the agent will direct you outside to the Super Shuttle.
 
Baltimore/Washington International Airport

National Harbor Courtesy Shuttle:

The National Harbor Curtesy Shuttle offers transportation from the King Street Metro to National Harbor. The King Street Metro Station is accessible via the blue and yellow metro rail lines. Upon exiting the metro rail station, there will be a pedestrian walkway directly in front of you. Follow the walkway to the end of the walkway where the shuttle stop is located on Diagonal Road. The bus will transport to National Harbor where you should get off at the St. George Boulevard Stop across the street from the Gaylord National.

Cost:
Complimentary for National Harbor hotel guests, all other riders will be charged a $10 fee.

Hours of Operation:
Bus picks up from the King Street metro station daily from 7:00am – 8:00pm every hour on the hour. The bus departs St. George Blvd metro stop across from Gaylord National daily from 6:32am – 8:32am The ride to and from National Harbor will take approximately 15 minutes one way but may vary due to traffic conditions.


National Harbor Metro Bus:

The Metro Bus offers transportation from Branch Avenue on Metro Bus NH1 and Southern Avenue Metro Stations on Metro Bus NH3 to National Harbor. Both busses will drop and pick up passengers off at the St. George Boulevard stop across the street from the Gaylord National.

Cost: Approximately $1.80 one way.

The Metro Bus NH1 picks up from the Branch Avenue metro station Monday-Friday from 5:55am – 10:35pm, and Saturday-Sunday from 7:55am – 10:30pm, every thirty (30) minutes. The bus departs from St. George Blvd metro stop across from Gaylord National Monday – Friday 6:17am – 10:58pm and Saturday – Sunday 8:18am – 10:56pm every thirty (30) minutes. The ride to National Harbor will take approximately 25 minutes one way but may vary due to traffic conditions.

The Metro Bus NH3 picks up from the Southern Avenue metro station Monday-Friday at 11:34pm & 12:34am, and Saturday-Sunday at 6:25am, 7:25am, & 11:35pm. The bus departs from St. George Blvd metro stop across from the Gaylord National Monday – Friday 12:06pm & 1:06am and Saturday-Sunday 6:55am, 7:55am, 12:06pm & 1:06am. The ride to National Harbor will take approximately 25 minutes one way but may vary due to traffic conditions.
